I know what you mean about the “gimmicky” 5k thing — but I think this one is worthwhile. I forgot to mention it above but it isn’t even a timed event and it definitely encourages families and everyone wanting to have fun to come out, not a “runner” atmosphere. And I cannot imagine having to run over an hour in that muck, much less 24!

Also, I’m shocked she hasn’t taken my comment down yet. She must be busy at dinner! I’m glad you stopped by, though! Come back again.

I had just heard of a Color Run the other day! I’m kinda over the gimmicky 5K thing, but I like the idea behind it.

I heard about the mud because the Rocky Racoon 100 was last weekend in TX. Can you imagine running for more than 24 hours in that??

Ooh I hope Jacob likes them — I’m with him in the peppermint camp. I vaguely remember that ski trip… was Rebekah the youth leader at that point? I went one year when Chris still was and I fell so often I hated skiing and swore it off!

I will make these for Jacob. He loves peppermint. Also….so funny to see you on skis……I remember a ski trip once upon a time, when your mother and I were chaperones…..and would not allow our accident prone children to ski! We played canasta in the lodge.

Good morning to you, too Thanks for reading and for sending my feedback to Austin Color Run. I actually debated doing that myself but hadn’t decided yet, so I’m glad someone took the plunge for me. Sorry to hear that your daughter had the same issues, I think feedback is split heavily between those who went first and got color and those who felt like we were cheated out of it. Word of mouth is definitely important in Austin, so hopefully it makes some positive changes happen!

Good Morning! You did an awesome job of capturing the pain y’all went through participating in this event this weekend. My daughter and their friends talked about the same issues but did not go into details like you have. I forwarded your link to the Color Run – Austin’s site so they can get the feedback that so many would love to tell them. Hopefully, they make changes for it would be a shame if this event lost it’s flare and people don’t join. They best realize that word of mouth here in Austin is really detrimental especially when it comes down to organization….

Jen, thanks for clicking through and stopping by! I am glad I’m not the only dissenter out there… I feel like negative commenters are usually attacked and not considered so it is nice. And I agree with what you said about it being a lazy way to do her job… But please feel free to stop by again, I try to post at least once a week so while I may not provide you 3x/day excitement, I do try to get something meaningful out there!

Found you from HTP’s website – I appreciated your comment about the shoes “review”. It seemed like common-sense – and courtesy! – to me that if a company or anyone sends you something, to show some respect and do review (at least a brief one). Saying she doesn’t “need to do review” is honestly just lazy and somewhat self-righteous in my opinion. The blog is her job – you’d think she’d put more consideration into that!
