my resolutions

Are you making New Year’s resolutions? It seems to be that time of the year again when everyone else is resolving to lose 100 lbs, quit smoking, and give up red meat. I make my own resolutions every year and tend to keep most of them. Sure, I’ve made the “lose 100 lbs!” resolution (and lost 80!)  but I try to think about things that I can actually achieve and things that are important in my life.

This past year I resolved to get into grad school (not so much a resolution as a desperate hope), run my first 5k (which I did, and subsequently ran a few other races), and try not to drive over 80 mph. I complied with all of my resolutions and I actually became a total old lady driver this year.

So now I’m thinking about my resolutions for 2011. I make resolutions that might seem mundane and boring to y’all, but to me they are practical and serve a real purpose in my life. Much like my decision to buy a set of variety-sized biscuit cutters….

For 2011 I resolve to:

1. Floss my teeth more frequently;

2. Lose 10 lbs (+ the 5 I’ve probably gained since Thanksgiving…);

3. Beat my fear of the grill and throw some meat on an open flame without a trip to the hospital;

4. Post a how-to video of something for y’all;

5. Be EPIC in all sense of the word.

What are your resolutions for the New Year?

  1. Mere,
    Call me when you are ready to tackle #3….’You must learn the ways of the BBQ, my young Padawan, just as I learned from your grandfather’….Your grandfather was a great Jedi BBQer…

    • If you’d just bring your grill to me, you could teach me any time!!! Dad always tried to teach me, but I’m afraid of the whole lighting the grill and getting my hand close to flame while flipping the meat process… pathetic, I know. My friend Trevor just bought himself a grill for Christmas so he promised to have 911 on call and teach me.

  2. Johnson & Johnson CleanBurst icy spearmint floss seriously makes flossing a JOY! Makes it WAY easier to stick to that one!!

  3. what GREAT resolutions!!! I have been doing new year’s resolutions with my students, maybe I will use yours as examples lol!
